It had been a very hot summer at Bubble Hampton Zoo. It had not rained for many weeks. Most of the animals at the zoo enjoyed the hot days but some found it a bit too hot.
All through the summer the pelicans would swim in their small lake to cool off. One day Ken the keeper noticed that the pelicans had not swam all day. As he glanced across at the lake he was horrified to see they had no water, the sun had dried the lake completely.
Ken the keeper scratched his head and tried to think what he could do. With that he had the perfect idea he would ring his freind at the fire station, Bob the station officer.
Within no time at all Bob and his firemen arrived at the zoo in their shiny new fire engine. It did'nt take long before the fire engine had pumped the lake full of cool water .
Soon the pelicans were swimming and playing happilly in the lake once again. Ken the keeper remembered the cool lemonade he had in his office fridge and gave everyone a well deserved drink.
